Luke 22:31-32 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”

Remember Christ is interceding for us always before the throne of God; we are all tested and tried. We all stumble, fall and fail at times. Christ knew Peter would deny Him and told him so; but Christ also know that Peter would repent and turn back to Him. Just as He is calling and drawing the hearts of the many that belong to Him out of deception today. He knows who are His and who hear His voice. One of the most humbling things about it all besides the forgiveness that is offered to us, is the last three words of the scripture above…..”strengthen your brethren” God continues to use us and our past failures to strengthen and encourage other believers. How awesome our God is!!

Is. 29:9-10 Stay yourselves, and wonder; cry out; they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink. For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers.

“Stagger: 8582 ta’ah/taw.aw: verb: Astray, wander, seduced, stagger. Out of the way, deceived, to err or go astray. Intoxication, wandering of the mind, be made to stagger i.e. drunkard. To cause to mislead mentally and morally.
GREEK 9494: Wander…i.e. make linear motion as traveling from place to place, but without one specific, immediate goal. refers to a straying from a right way of life, or some right principle. Be misled, i.e. hold a wrong view about something, with a focus that this wrong belief also has wrong behaviors which need correction. Stagger, totter, reel, i.e. the non-linear motion of a person whose body is out of control for some reason…stagger around….falter, skip a beat, i.e. have an irregular heart beat or similar feeling as a bodily response to a fear and anxiety, as a figurative extension of an out of control body staggering.”

“Clinical Description of SPIRITUAL EMERGENCY”

Kundalini is a complex physio-psychospiritual transformative process described in the Yogic tradition. Kundalini energy is presumed to reside at the base of the spine. When aroused, it can rise through the chakras (psychic centers situated along the spine from the tailbone to the top of the head), creating physical symptoms ranging from sensations of heat and tremors to involuntary laughing or crying, talking in tongues, nausea, diarrhea or constipation, rigidity or limpness, and animal-like movements and sounds. Kundalini awakening can resemble many disorders, medical as well as psychiatric. The physical nature of the symptoms can mimic conversion disorder, epilepsy, lower back problems, multiple sclerosis, heart attack or pelvic inflammatory syndrome. The emotional reaction to the awakening of Kundalini can be confused with disorders involving anxiety, depression, aggression, and organic syndromes. A variety of spiritual practices, including meditation and hatha yoga, can bring it on, and it can also occur.”

“The practice, which is spiritually dangerous in the extreme, is often linked with Yoga-like exercises associated with eastern meditation and mysticism. Chanting and essentially self-hypnotic routines can be a ‘way in’.

Andrew Strom believes that these phenomena – stretching back to the Toronto Blessing – represent the ‘worst invasion [of deceiving spirits] in church history’ and, in his concern, goes as far as controversaly ‘naming names’. It is up to the reader to exercise his/her own discernment on all that is contained in the following.”

If we take just the behavioral traits and the list of side effects of Kundalini and then run a comparison of those in Christendom who “worship” or “enter into a spiritual trance/ecstatic experience” etc. there is no question that the movements, sounds and actions are identical.
It’s also note worthy that many Christians who participate in these types of “ministries” speak of ecstatic, euphoric or blissful experiences, feelings and sensations. They claim the is has to be God….Satan doesn’t want you to feel good. Really?? I have actually heard this from some Christians. When scripture says Satan comes as an angle of light; when we are repeatedly told in scripture how he comes to deceive, of course he is going to make all thoughts and sensations extremely pleasant and appealing.
As for the negative side effects i.e. long term involuntary movements, mental fatigue, depression etc. we are now starting to see them manifest in people who lead and participate regularly in these “ministries”. the ecstatic experiences start to turn dark and ominous. These manifestations start to happen at times and places when the person is not in a state of worship or prayer. It is with much love and concern that this is written. If you are one of those, maybe you’re out of this deception now, and are still experiencing the side effects. Take heart and be encouraged, Satan has tried to sift you as wheat but you belong to God and He is faithful to deliver you out.

Part one of Spiritual emergency dealt with the symptoms that relate to long term involvement and participation in Sozo ministries, soaking prayer, ecstatic worship; and how it parallels and looks identical to the Kundailini or serpent power. Which are listed in Part 1.

Where in God’s Word are these behaviors mentioned?

Ex. 32:25 And when Moses saw that the people were unrestrained; (for Aaron had not restrained them unto their shame among their enemies.
The Strongs translation for UNRESTRAINED = 6544 פָּרַע , פָּרַע [ para` / paw• rah /] Is “uncover, to let loose, neglect, be loosened of restraint. To show lack of restraint. Also the Greek words for this is
“7276 I. פָּרַע ( para˓ ) and 7277 II. פָּרַע ( para˓ ), “To move to the front of a group as a leader…to be unkept, be loose, be out of control. Have a mob or group with no restraint in activities, implying open defiance of a known standard or authority. Be running wild. cause disorder, promote wickedness. Pay no attention or give no serious thought to proper actions or response. Be unkept, be lawless”
The question. How many of you have been in and participated in these types of experiences in your churches?
Acts 16:15-18 16 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: 17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation. 18 And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour

Familiar spirits, divination, mediums, etc. all of these occult and pagan practices are identical to what is happening in many of the churches today.

1. The woman “met us”, this word met means “to go meet, in a military sense i.e. of a hostile meeting.” or “to meet in battle, oppose.” The spirit/demon that was operating through her was not friendly towards these men of God .
2. The most deceptive thing in this story is that the spirit spoke the TRUTH saying “These men are the servants of the most high God, which shows unto us the way of salvation”….Now the question needs to be asked to all……How do we discern and distinguish good from evil, truth from error when we are faced with circumstances like this??? I’m can look back at situations in my spiritual growth and know of many times when I KNEW things weren’t right; but what was coming being spoken was on the face of it TRUTH. Those are the times that we need to look and dig a little deeper into what we are exposing ourselves to. Rather than dismiss them, because after all it is the truth.
3. Here’s a key …..Paul’s reaction and action…..He was grieved. This means literally “To be irked, disturbed, troubled, greatly annoyed, To work out laboriously, to be troubled, displeased, offended, pained…to be worked up.” This did not come from Paul but from the Holy Spirit within him. I can’t count the times that I have felt this way during those years of deception.
4. Another critical point is the spirit of divination. Looking at the traits of divination/familiar spirits; gives us a clear picture of the manifestation that are in churches today; being “Christianized” and said to be God’s doing.
5. ” which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying” Here’s where the behavior or manifestations come in….”soothsaying” translation from Strong’s 3132 μαντεύομαι [ manteuomai / mant• yoo •om•ahee /, “Meaning a prophet, as supposed to RAVE through inspiration”….”To long for, through the idea of insensate craving”, certainly appeals to the flesh doesn’t it? The translation goes on to say “Be mad” or “be beside one’s self, to rave….Of one who so speaks that he seems not to be in his right mind.” Does this sound familiar? There are many instances that I can recall where people appeared to be out of control and not in their right minds. Below is a video as an example of such behavior and manifestation.

Here’s the dictionary definition of RAVE: Definition of RAVE
1 to talk irrationally in or as if in delirium b : to speak out wildly c : to talk with extreme enthusiasm
2 to move or advance violently : stormtransitive verb : to utter in madness or frenzy

Although there are dozens of examples that could be given in scripture to drive the point home that these manifestations and experiences are not of God; but are in fact a deception and have lead many astray. One last example from scripture that is very telling concerning those (leaders) who crave the power of God but have no interest in obtaining anything else from Him.

Acts 8:9-24 But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one: 10 To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God. 11 And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries. 12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. 13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles a and signs which were done.
14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: 15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: 16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) 17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. 18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, 19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. 20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. 21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. 22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. 23 For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity. 24 Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.
Simon used sorcery/magic to “bewitch” the people. The Strong’s translation is 1839 ἐξιστάνω , ἐξιστάω , ἐξίστημι which means ” Be astonished, be beside one’ self, wonder. To throw out of position, displace. To be out of one’s mind, insane.”
It is obvious from the description given that Simon indeed has power and not from God. It is also apparent that he had an direct impact on the people of this city and what they “saw and experienced” to the point of being crazed and deceived saying it was of God. Again, does this sound familiar? Simon also claimed to be someone with great power and the people attributed it to God. Then when Philip “preached the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ” not only the people but Simon himself believed also.
Now this is where the story gets interesting. Simon continued with Philip and he was amazed himself at the power of God and the miracles, wonders and signs that were done. Then when Peter and John showed up to lay hands on those who believed to receive the Holy Spirit; this is when Simon asked to purchase that power so that he may also lay hands on people. Notice

• He didn’t ask for the power to perform signs, wonders and miracles…..although he was amazed by them. Why is that?
• He didn’t ask for the apostles to lay hands on him that he might receive the gift of the Holy Spirit himself; for his own growth or edification.
• He asked instead that he be given the power to perform the giving of the Holy Spirit, so that he may have the power over others. His intentions are clear, he still was operating out of his own flesh and desires to be elevated and “someone special.”
• We see this in other scriptures when it speaks of the false prophets, preachers and teachers that are in the church today. Simon is a picture of the leadership in many churches today that what the power and authority of God, without accountability to Him. For their own gain, pride and glory.

The Cure
It’s obvious, the only cure or saving grace we have comes from Christ and what He has done on the Cross for us, once and for all. Repent, ask for forgiveness, He is faithful. If you are one that is reading this with a broken heart, remember He has brought you this far and His intent is to rescue you out and make you whole in Him, and continue to use you for His purpose and glory.
Luke 22:31-32 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”

  1. Gods word, sidelined, speaking or preaching of man’s sinful state, sidelined, the Cross, no longer central to the christians life, sidelined, correct eschatology no longer preached, sidelined, preachers who ‘tell stories’ no longer preaching from God’s word, thereby allowing the Holy Spirt to bring out the truth, in fact the correct teaching on the Holy Spirit, sidelined. Experience is what people crave, with many rushing from church to church to get their new ‘fix’, or another ‘fix’. This is where many charismatic churches have put themselves, with unscrupulous leaders who only want to exert their ‘power’ over others, many of whom should no better the Word of God and not allow themselves be led the wrong way. Others, the young, the impressionable swimming in a river of incorrect and false teaching, they don’t know any better, but do not correctly study the Bible for the real truth, but are carried along by every wind of doctrine. These is the new and vibrant churches that people clamour for, with celebrity bands and worship leaders and hip leaders who only speak what their itching ears require. And these explanations that I have read here reinforce what is happening even more, pointing to Jesus’s return really. God is not mocked, and in amongst all this, there is the Word, that by faithful, truthful people is still be preached the light of which will burn through the fog of these false teachers teachings, bringing God’s word truly to the needfull sinful searching heart so that true salvation will be made known. Thank you for your exposition.
