Inviting the world to judge the Church.
And the cut and paste noble Berean’s search the weekly news.
hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
In doing a study on the parable of the sower, I inadvertently stumbled across this statement by John MacArthur in his teaching on this parable. Granted it is a rabbit hole that he went down but still is certainly noteworthy due to its contradiction to the scriptures. Then a few days ago Tim Wirth did a video including a piece on John Haller’s weekly prophesy update and his use or misuse of scripture. (1https://youtu.be/bCkCPlOVDrY ) We all need to pray and guard our hearts as the days grow darker.
“A Diagnosis of the Soils”, Part 1 (Mark 4:1-20) (2 https://youtu.be/zChBUwHnv6I)
At the 9:10 mark John says,
“We are so bent on the style of the sower and creating some type of synthetic, acceptable seed, that we’ve mutated the gospel into such a corrupted form that it no longer has the power to save because it isn’t the true gospel.
I’ve become continually exercised about this, to the degree that I’m even in the process, even as I speak, of putting together a document that I’m gonna get somewhere, I don’t know, Newsweek Magazine, the Wall Street Journal…somebody. Send it to a lot of places and say, I just want to make it clear that the kind of Christianity that you see on the television with the prosperity gospel and all of that other stuff is not Christianity, it’s not the gospel of Jesus Christ and we want to distance ourselves from it, somebody needs to know that’s not Christianity, that’s not biblical Christianity, that’s not historical Christianity. Biblical and historical Christianity is the true gospel of Jesus Christ preached in its purity and its clarity.
The church won’t do anything about it, seemingly, Christian leaders don’t want to address the issues, so maybe we can get the world to take a look at it. “
The world has no place judging things within and pertaining to Christianity and what makes John think they would judge rightly? Scripture is clear they will not because the world has a prince, Satan, that is enminty with God. Yet John MacArthur seems to think and teach otherwise, as he clearly is putting together a “document” to take to the world to proclaim the false teachings of the prosperity gospel. Clearly, he says the Church won’t do anything about it so let’s take it to the world. This is such a blatant error in teaching that it makes your head spin.
1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
1Co 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
Jas 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
For John to even suggest that the world belongs in the spiritual matters of the church is ludicrous and he is Scripturally in error for teaching it.
**1Jn 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
1Jn 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
John MacArthur is presenting the world as a place to settle spiritual issue, it seems.
John Haller does a weekly “prophesy update” although not nearly as “notable” or well known as John MacArthur, his most recent “update” is worth a mention, as it parallels that of John MacArthur’s. As It tends to lead it’s listeners towards the world rather than to the Word.
2021 02 14 John Haller’s Prophecy Update “Deplatforming Humanity” (3https://youtu.be/2snZe2xyY50 )
At the 3:25 mark John says: “Just to remind you of something, you know you need to do your own research on a lot of things. I try, to really source my material, I look at a lot of things from news sources that I wouldn’t agree with their editorial philosophy, but I think there are ways that you read and find out what the facts are. And so, but ultimately, we have to take own personal responsibility for things.
And in Acts 17:11 it talks about “these were more noble than those in Thessalonica in that they received the Word with all readiness of mind and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”
So, when they were taught by the Apostles themselves, they went and looked through the scriptures to make sure what they were hearing and the scripture was true.
And then in 2 Timothy chapter 3 “2Ti 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2Ti 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
2Ti 3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
And then in 2 Timothy chapter 4 Paul admonishes Timothy to do this. “I charge thee, therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at His appearing in His kingdom, preach the Word, be instant in season, out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables”
So, admonitions that we need to be careful about. The things that we are going to be facing in the world and that are coming in the world and that are already present here we need to be on guard for; because they are not coming, they’re here. ~end quote
- The Bereans searched the scriptures to see if what the Apostles said where so, not weekly news clips, only the Word can bring life, spiritual understanding, salvation and growth.
- To set aside the Word of God and insert one’s own work/words in reference to verse 11, is error. John Haller tells his listeners to search his information daily to see if what he says is so. To check his news clippings, news articles and references on world events. That is listener’s responsibility if they indeed desire to be as the Berean’s.
- In listening to this entire update, this was the only time scripture was spoken and it was used to turn the listeners to the world news and not the scriptures. So in holding to what the word says to do in Acts 17:11, it becomes clear that what John says isn’t so and doesn’t line up with scripture as it leads people away from it.
- In keeping in the context of Acts 17 we see the result of searching the scriptures and fact checking those who preach the Word, for in verse 12 is says: Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few. Fact checking world news clippings does not equate to fact checking the scriptures and coming to salvation.
- Cherry picked verses are applied to a secular collection of information of world events, including but not limited to a 3D printer that prints steaks to eat in restaurants. This is not prophesy, this is not true doctrine. We need to be in the Word, not the world.
Joh 7:16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
Joh 7:17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
Joh 7:18 He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
